Holidays in the Alte Post –
luxury in simplistic surroundings

The Alte Post combines the charm of a historic building with modern living comfort. Enjoy all the comforts of today in a historic ambience. Our stylish spacious vacation home was built in 1860 by a Black Forest clock merchant who successfully traded Black Forest clocks in Dublin and London. Returning from England, the Black Forest Englishman built the stately house. Later the village post office moved into the first floor. The Old Post Office is suitable for individualists as well as for families. Here you will find the necessary space and freedom to relax and discover new things.

In the middle of the village –
in the middle of the countryside

The sunny, detached house is located in a central yet quiet location in close proximity to the magnificent baroque monastery complex. The large windows open up wonderful views of the surrounding landscape of the Upper Black Forest. Here you can experience village life in a completely different way.

Place & Region

Sankt Märgen near Freiburg

Sankt Märgen's exposed sunny panoramic location and its rural idyll have inspired artists and scholars from all over Europe for centuries. The village's location on a high plateau in the middle of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park is unsurpassed in the Black Forest even today. Here, air, light and sun mingle with the wide horizon and the gentle sweep of the mountains. A saving island when in winter the Rhine valley remains in a cold fog, and real summer resort with a wonderful bathing pond when the summer heat accumulates in the valleys. Thanks to its altitude, the cold season provides Sankt Märgen with winter-light, cloudless snowy days. Freiburg's city center can be reached in 20 minutes via the less frequented Wagensteig valley. But public transportation also gives you access to the entire southern Black Forest. Sankt Märgen has remained a village in the positive sense and has an amazingly diverse infrastructure in the village center (village bakery, butcher, pharmacy, bank, country women's café, farm store).

Black Forest the quiet way

Our house is guaranteed laminate and bollenhut free. We want to give you a quality and authentic experience of the Black Forest. Discover the many little treasures away from Titisee and Europa-Park.
